Postpartum Depression Therapy in Anaheim, CA | Therapist Karla Hernández
Anaheim is three miles from the happiest place on earth. It is also the city where you fell apart after your baby was born — quietly, in the bathroom, while everyone assumed you were doing great. That is the cruelest thing about postpartum depression: it does not care what city you live in, what your social media looks like, or how many people are in your corner. It moves in quietly and makes you a stranger in your own life. I am Karla Hernandez, a perinatal and postpartum therapist, and I work with mothers in Anaheim and across Orange County who have been performing fine while privately wondering if something is seriously wrong with them. Nothing is wrong with you. Something is happening to you — and there is a meaningful difference.
Behind Anaheim's resort corridors is a city of working families, immigrant communities, and multigenerational households navigating real economic and emotional pressure. The Latino community makes up a significant portion of Anaheim's population, and the mothers here carry both the warmth of close family networks and the weight of unspoken expectations about how a mother is supposed to handle things. In Colony Park, East Anaheim, and the neighborhoods surrounding Katella, strength is celebrated and struggling is kept private. Orange County adds its own layer: the pressure to match the aesthetic of a composed, curated life. Postpartum depression does not discriminate between zip codes, but the shame of experiencing it somewhere that projects abundance can make it that much harder to reach out.
Reaching out to me does not require an appointment in a formal office, a long explanation to a receptionist, or parking in a strip mall. It requires a device, a quiet moment, and the decision that you are worth this. I offer virtual therapy throughout Orange County so that the gap between where you are and where you need to be is as small as possible.
How it works
01
Book a consultation call
We start by meeting you exactly where you are raw, exhausted, and real. Our work together is built on honesty, compassion, and validation, not pressure to "bounce back." This is therapy designed for mothers who are done pretending everything is fine.
02
Let’s meet where you are
Sessions are offered virtually for maximum flexibility, because we know carving out time between naps, nursing, and survival is already hard enough.
03
Start healing and thriving in your motherhood
We don't believe in quick fixes we believe in holding space for your rage, grief, guilt, and love. Our goal is to help you find clarity, rest, and self-compassion so you can move through motherhood with more ease and less shame.
Explore our therapy services and specializations
We help mothers at every stage, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond navigate the mental and emotional shifts that come with motherhood. You don't have to do it alone or pretend it's all bliss. We offer a space to process it all, honestly.
Postpartum depression is one of the most common and most under-treated experiences a new mother can have. If you feel disconnected, hopeless, or like you're watching your life from the outside, therapy can help you find your way back to yourself.
Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fifth, therapy can help you process anxiety, fears, and the identity shifts that start long before birth. You don't need a crisis to deserve support.
If your mind races with worst-case scenarios, and you feel stuck in constant panic or hypervigilance, you may be experiencing postpartum anxiety. You're not broken and you don't have to live like this.
Even medically "normal" births can be traumatic. We offer space to explore what you went through, without judgment or minimization, so your healing can begin.
Grief in motherhood is real. Whether you've experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or termination, we honor your loss with tenderness and care.
Postpartum rage in Orange County often looks like this: snapping at your partner in the car on the way to a playdate, then crying the whole way home. Slamming a cabinet and not knowing why. Feeling a fury that has nowhere to go in a county where everyone appears put-together. We take that seriously in our sessions — not as a behavior to manage, but as a message from your body about what it has been carrying and what it urgently needs.
